As Superintendent Austin Beutner explained in his October 5th Letter to the School Community, Los Angeles Unified is offering COVID-19 tests to all employees.

The virus testing program is now underway, and it’s time for our school to be tested. If you have not yet been tested, please schedule an appointment at LAUSD safe steps.

While the testing is not mandatory for employees working from home, we appreciate your participation in this important program. It is quick and results come in 24 hours.

ONLINE EXTENDED LEARNING TIME

(AFTER-SCHOOL AND SATURDAY SMALL-GROUP TUTORING)

OVERVIEW: (Oct. 2020- Dec. 2020)

● Staff for the Online Extended Learning Time program may include teachers and teacher assistants under the direction of a teacher.

● Online Extended Learning Time will include the formation of small groups to receive instruction in an online model.

● Online Extended Learning Time will focus on students with disabilities, English Learners, students in foster care, and students experiencing homelessness, and can be extended to any student who is having difficulty in remote instruction.

● In addition to high need populations, special consideration should be given to accelerating towards and supporting grade-level instruction, such as creating SMART goals in literacy, mathematics and language metrics at all levels.

SESSION TIMES:

● Sessions may be conducted on Saturdays for additional compensation at the hourly rate.

● Weekdays after the instructional day (9:00-2:15) for additional compensation at the hourly rate.

● Online Extended Learning Time may not be conducted during the instructional day.

● This program may only be conducted in addition to the small-group instruction and intervention occurring during the school day and is not a replacement for differentiation during the instructional day. As part of a multi-tiered system of support, the extended learning time must be in addition to what is being offered during the school day.

● Schools will ask for volunteers from their staff (teachers, certificated support staff, and aides) for participation in the program.
