School Vision

We envision a school community where all stakeholders collaborate to help students achieve their personal best through the following pathways:

• Students will have a clear sense of self and respect for diversity
• Students will understand their responsibilities to others in a global society
• Students will understand learning objectives and set goals to achieve their personal best
• Students will learn strategies to access knowledge and skills to achieve these goals

Our students will gain the cognitive and interpersonal skills to become critical, creative thinkers prepared to compete in the 21^st century.

School Profile

 Cheremoya Elementary is part of the Los Angeles Unified School District, with TK through Grade 6. We currently enroll just over 250 students not including our PAL class and the State Pre-School program that are also part of our campus. 

The school has 15 fully credentialed certificated teaching staff, which includes 12 general education teachers, 2 pre-school teachers, and 1 program coordinator.  The staff's average number of years of experience is 19 years. The 2015 school year marked our 100th year anniversary. Cheremoya was recognized in 2014 and 2020 as being a California Distinguished School and has an Honor Roll School distinction since 2015. 

Designated as an Arts Pathway school in local district west, we are a creative network site where students experience all four disciplines in the arts: theater, dance, visual arts and vocal music.

A Creative Network School

Cheremoya is part of LAUSD's Creative Network. All students TK-6 receive arts integration/instruction in four disciplines, (theatre, dance, visual arts, and music) during either nine or twelve-week rotations.

This collaboration with the LAUSD Arts Branch supports our designation as an Arts Pathway School in LDW.

Please be certain to come to visit our rotation of student art in our gallery showcase located in our main hallway.

THE OUTDOOR LEARNING CENTER & GREEN SPACE  

A labor of love and joint effort of the Cheremoya Foundation, community volunteers, and LAUSD. The OLC is an incredible outdoor learning and play space that has to be seen. Dedicated in 2016, the area includes a dry creek bed and amazing native plants in addition to much needed green space for students to enjoy.

Cheremoya is also home of an EnrichLA edible garden. Student enrichment classes are delivered by a garden ranger thanks to the support of the Cheremoya Foundation.
